READMEI have created this set with dogs of 20.0mm, 19.9mm, about 3/4'' (19.0mm) and slightly less than 3/4'' (18.9mm) diameter. Just check my uploads and find the set you'll need. This is the 19.9mm set for 20mm dogholes. If you need any other types of bench dogs / stops / clamps, need some different dimensions, have some neat ideas or the like then drop a comment and I'll see what can be done. Project BackgroundA while ago I made a super nice mobile work bench heavily inspired by the Stanton Bench which is in turn inspired by the Festool MFT system. It's basically a 18mm / 3/4'' thick top with a bunch of 20mm holes in a 96mm pattern which a variety of tools and attachments can be used with to attack / secure pretty much anything to safely work with. A major part of this system are bench dogs, and as the metal ones can be quite expensive and you don't necessarily need that much strength in most tasks I figured I'd design and print a set. Same goes for a variety of additional accessories which seemed useful or neat to have. An added bonus is that if you slip with whatever power tool you're working and hit the bench dogs, the plastic probably won't damage your tool unlike metal bench accessories would. Project ContentsGeneral InformationSo far this set includes regular bench dogs, stop dogs with a flat side, corner dogs with a 90° open corner, angle dogs with a 90° top angle, flat stops, corner stops, repeat stops, planing stops and a cam clamp. There's versions of almost all of these with or without M6 throughholes for permanent fixture (or for attaching other stuff on top or something) and versions with straight walls or a 5° tilt to press the workpiece down towards the workbench. Often there's variations in some dimensions, too. If there aren't and you need some, drop me a comment and I should be able to provide it. I've printed a bunch of them and so far they've been holding up rather well. In fact I most often just grab these instead of my actual metal bench dogs unless I really need the sturdiness or precision that my metal ones offer. Parts / File Overview Standard Dogs Filename:StandardDog[OptionalModifier]Height[OptionalTaper].stl 25mm diameter top Various heights available Available as solid dogs, with a throughhole for M6 screws, and / or with a 5 degree taper Stop Dogs Filename:StopDog[OptionalModifier]Height[OptionalTaper].stl 25mm diameter top with one flat side Various heights available Available as solid dogs, with a throughhole for M6 screws, and / or with a 5 degree taper Polygonal Stop Dogs Filename:PolygonalStopDogMinimumToMaximumExtensionHeight[OptionalTaper].stl 5-sided asymetrical stop dog with each numbered side increasing in 5mm increments Designed to work well with Cam Clamp and Pressure Pad Corner Dogs Filename:CornerDog[OptionalModifier]OpeningAngleHeight[OptionalTaper].stl Rounded part has a 25mm diameter Comes with an opening of a given angle to hold corners of pieces Available as solid dogs, with a throughhole for M6 screws, and / or with a 5 degree taper Angle Dogs Filename:AngleDog[OptionalModifier]TopOpeningAnglewidthXdepthXheight.stl or AngleDogTop[OptionalModifier]TopOpeningAnglewidthXdepthXheight.stl Dog with an angled opening on the top to hold square, rectangular or round stock for cutting, drilling and planing (potentially using a clamp from the top) For better support at the end (e.g. towards Stop Dogs, Planing Stops, ...) or for clamping a file without the peg is provided, named AngleDogTop[...].stl Various sizes available (Double) Straight and Corner Stops Filename:StraightStopHeight.stl or DoubleStraightStopHeight.stl or CornerStopHeight.stl or DoubleCornerStopHeight.stl 25mm diameter top Straight or 90 degree corner stops, e.g. to clamp workpieces against Regular stops span two holes, double stops span over three holes in the 96x96mm grid pattern Requires very accurate 96x96mm doghole pattern or it won't fit Planing Stop Filename:PlaningStopDog.stl and PlaningStopRailwidthXheightXlength.stl Consists of special dogs with a dovetail fit to rails of various lengths Rails have one 90 degree side and one 85 degree side (5 degree taper) Low height planing stops are especially well-suited for planing thinner stock Due to sliding rail it's well-suited to setups diverging from 96x96mm doghole pattern (or for inaccurate ones) and can also be positioned in various angles, most notably 45 degrees by using diagonal holes Repeat Stop Filename:RepeatStopFixingPostHeightRodDiameter.stl and RepeatStopPlatewidthXheightXdepth.stl Requires 12X250mm rod (metal / plastic / wood), 2x M4x10x6 threaded brass insert, 2x M4x20 thumbscrew and 1x M4x20 screw (preferably cylinder head, though countersunk works, too) Consists of two special dogs with 25mm diameter tops which have holes for a 12x250mm rod to go through, as well as an opening for an M4x10x6 threaded brass insert for use with an M4 thumbscrew to secure the rod in place and a stop plate against which your workpiece can be pressed against Rod can be made from metal, wood or plastic. I used a 12x250mm aluminium rod which I threaded and tapped for an M4x20 screw 6mm from one end of the rod to attach the stop plate. If wood or plastic is used you can directly drive a screw into the rod, or you can just glue it in place if you don't need to be able to change the stop plate. Cam Clamp Filenames:CamClampHeightMinimumToMaximumExtension[OptionalTaper].stlCamClampPressurePadHeight[OptionalTaper].stl (Relatively) Low-height lever to fix your workpieces in place Using the Pressure Pad makes the Cam Clamp work even better Works well with Polygonal Stop Dogs (can clamp to 0mm) Standoff Cookie Filenames:StandoffCookiediameterXheight.stlStandoffCookiediameterXheightAntiSlipCuttingTemplate.stl Modified bench cookies Use self-adhesive EPDM foam for anti-slip properties (works great, I recommend using 1-3mm thick EPDM foam) Can be used simply for anti-slip purposes, lifting the workpiece from the work surface to not cut into the work surface and more Have a 25mm diameter recess to fit over Standard Dogs (with / without throughhole) so you can raise workpieces even higher to e.g. use a jigsaw, or to absolutely prevent any lateral movement Thumbscrews Filename:ThumbscrewM6[TYPE][ContactSurfaceDiameter].stl For securing various throughhole dogs or other components with M6 screws Nut types to fit an M6 nut Bolt types to fit an M6 bolt NutBoltHybrid can be used either way ContactSurfaceDiameter described the diameter of the surface which will press against the work surface around the dog hole. Frankly, bigger is better so the 34mm NutBoltHybrid is probably the best choice If the nut is to be permanently secured, the NutPlug can be glued in after inserting the nut Bench Legs Filenames:BenchLegheight.stlBenchLegExtensionheight.stlBenchLegAntiSlipCuttingTemplate.stl If a Stanton Bench, Multi Function Slab or similar style of work surface is being used, the bench legs offer a convienient way to place the work surface on the ground or another table Use self-adhesive EPDM foam for anti-slip properties (works great, I recommend using 1-3mm thick EPDM foam)
