I have a friend who has Rett Syndrome, and can't really hold regular utensils. On thingiverse I saw that user Tetrahemicon had made an AWESOME design for a utensil grip that just uses rubber bands. Unfortunately my friend couldn't use it because the thumb part didn't work for her, and the grooves kind of hurt her hands because she grips so hard. As an able-bodied person, I admit I rarely thought about the difficulties people have with eating using regular utensils if they live with a disability. The grips that you can buy online are made of rubber, and work great, but are expensive. Especially considering you have to wash them frequently, especially if your disability causes you to make a mess when you eat. With this design, you can print so many of them, that cost is significantly lessened. I remixed this awesome design and made it a little easier to grip for her, got rid of the thumb holder and rounded the whole thing off to create this. I have printed it on 7 different FDM machines and it prints just fine without supports and is super easy and affordable to print many of them!
