These are rests of a pot found in Vela di Trento, dating from the Middle Neolithic period.  In Northern Italy, several sites revealed domesticated plants (Rottoli and Castiglioni 2008). Only few of these are located in the occidental Alps or on their foothills, such as Vela di Trento  in the Adige valley.Since the discovery in 1968 of the Vela Valbusa burial and the Romagnano Loc cemetery, the Adige Valley, and in particular its Trentino section, is an ideal area to study the funerary ritual and ideology of the Copper Age and the Early Bronze Age. This territory has a high density of burials, the presence of almost unique funerary rituals and of areas for the cult of the dead of particular importance for the east-central south-Alpine area.
