Athens (Greece) ?, acquired in 1892Marble, 430 - 420 BC The garment gliding down from the left shoulder and the breasts shimmering through the thin fabric make it clear that this is a representation of the goddess of love. The stylistic proximity to the sculptures of the Parthenon in Athens has led to the hypothetical identification with an Aphrodite Urania of Phidias. This object is part of "Scan The World".
