Statue of an athlete made of Pentelic marble and found at Eleusis. The youth is shown with his head slightly bowed, ready to place on it the crown probably of metal, which he will have held in his right hand. Probably a copy or free reworking dating from the second half of the 2nd c. BC of an original by Polykleitos made about 440 BC, conceivably the statue of the athlete Kyniskos.    This object is part of "Scan The World". Scan the World is a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory, through which we are creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from across the globe for the public to access for free. Scan the World is an open source, community effort, if you have interesting items around you and would like to contribute, email [email protected] to find out how you can help.
