This stone vessel from southern Iraq date from the Late Uruk to Early Dynastic 1 period, 3300-2700 BC, and exemplify the high standards of early Mesopotamian stone carving. During this time stone sculptures were created both for temple decoration and to be placed in temples for votive purposes, dedicated to the gods.
