This relief was made by Saro Zagari in 1842 to ornate the theatre in Messine, Italy. It represents mythologic Greek gods and goddesses imitating the Ancient Greek and Roman way of sculpting, as it is often observed during this period of awakening national pride in Italy, during which the intelligentsia inspired itself of the Roman arts.
