Leonardo da Vinci's work inspired many artists throughout the centuries, that is why he is such a recurrent theme. Here, Cesare Fantacchiotti seems to have taken inspiration from Pisano's reliefs for the Florence Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore. The shape of the frame, the subject of a great master and the choice of haut-relief are as many clues leading to this conclusion. This work would therefore be a sort of tribute to da Vincim, elevating him to the rank of old masters from the Antiquity that inspired Pisano,  a century before da Vinci was born.
