Giuseppe Obici, Italian sculptor, was born and died in Spilamberto, Modena, in 1807-1878. In 1834 he studied in the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, and later in a studio of Pietro Tenerani in Rome, where sculptured a bust, which is now in Gall. of modern art in Florence. Other important works of Obici are: the statue of Maria Immacolata (1856, Piazza di Spagna, Rome), and a statue of St John the Baptist (Chiesa di S.Maria sopra Minerva, Rome). Pietro Tenerani was an Italian sculptor of the Neoclassic style.
